Crafted from 100% pure habotai mulberry silk, our ribbons feature a delicate drape and hand-torn, slightly frayed edges. Wherever possible, we use artisanal hand-dye techniques, including natural and plant-based dyes, to achieve a depth of colour and a refined, organic feel. For this reason, please note that some variation may occur between the sample shades and the ribbons later ordered - no two batches can ever be completely the same so please bare this in mind.

Handwash using a PH neutral detergent, only if absolutely necessarily. Airdry away from direct sunlight. Iron on a low temperature setting. Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent premature fading. Avoid direct contact with jewellery and perfumes. We recommend keeping your ribbons rolled up on their spools until they are being used to prevent creasing. If you need to cut your ribbons, cut them using fabric scissors or a rotary blade on a 45 degree angle to prevent fraying and for a neat crisp edge.
We offer a range of different size ribbons depending on your desired use. We recommend a 2" wide ribbons for bouquets and 1" for buttonholes. Ribbons for cakes look best at 3" or 4" widths. Stationery ribbons are usually between 0.5" - 1.5" widths.
We offer samples for all our ribbons. These are presented on a piece of card and are approx. 15cm-20cm in length and 1" wide. Please note that samples should be used as a guide only - we cannot guarantee that the batch you later purchase will be from the same batch that your sample was provided from, so some variation may still occur. We strongly advise that you order as many ribbons as you need for your project in the same order to prevent colour variations. You can also purchase our entire book of samples.

This being said, we advise that prior to placing a large order, you contact us via email at hello@thesilkstudio.uk to confirm our current processing times, as they may vary depending on demand throughout the year. Our standard processing time is typically 5-10 working days; however, we do offer expedited processing for an additional fee, which will be agreed upon before proceeding with your order.
Please note that large orders are custom-made and non-refundable. We strongly advise ordering samples of colours before committing to ensure they meet your needs. This does not affect your statutory rights. Due to the handmade nature of our silk ribbons, some variations in colour and size may occur. If you have specific requirements, please contact us before placing your order.
All orders are sent via a tracked and signed-for method, so please ensure someone is available to sign for your delivery. We cannot be held liable for lost or delayed items caused by third-party couriers or incorrect address details.
