The Silk Studio prides itself on only using natural dye matter. Our dyes are cultivated by using natural dye matter which has typically been:

- foraged from nature;
- recycled from leftover food-waste straight from our kitchen;
- grown in our garden;
- or purchased from local farmers market.

Occasionally, we  purchase natural dye extracts to help us to achieve specific shades. These are sourced from ethical and reputable companies and come from natural sources.

Our vegan range is ever growing. We now offer peace and bamboo silk alternatives to classic silk.

We are a small business, with a big heart. A large part of what makes our silks so special is that they are lovingly made, by hand, by us. We take pride in each and every one of our ribbons, napkins and runners and love seeing them in action!

We don't do mass produced, synthetic dying. We believe in harnessing nature and creating something which is bespoke and completely one off. Due to the unpredictable nature of using plant-based dyes, subtle 'nuances' can be found with each hue, whether that's blemishing or pigmentation. We believe this is what makes each individual piece so unique.

In a world which largely promotes a culture of immediacy, we believe in taking time to smell the roses. We embrace nature, and all that it has to offer.

The process of dying by hand is a slow one, which requires much patience and experimentation. As slow crafters, we put our heart and soul into each and every one of our projects, whether that's creatively directing a wedding for one of our couples, or working on a bespoke commission for silk adornments.

We believe in good, old fashioned values, like delivering a tailored and personable service to our clients and customers. It's for this reason that we only take on a limited number of projects at one time.
